Study 2/Courtney's Memory Study (Follow-Up Version)
This follow-up study is being conducted by Courtney Black (084367b@acadiau.ca), an honours student at Acadia University. It looks at the way people remember particular relationship events. In order to participate in this study, you must have completed the background questionnaires of Kristina Hobson's diary study, and therefore must have met her eligibility criteria. It is most beneficial to researchers if both you and your partner can participate in this follow-up study, but unlike the diary study, it is not essential that you both take part.
There are two parts to the follow-up study. Part 1 will be open to you immediately after you complete the background questionnaires of the diary study. It involves recalling and describing two different relationship events, and completing subsequent questionnaires related to these events and your memories of them.
Part 2 will be open to you in approximately one month's time. You will receive an email with your invitation, link to the study, and a prompt. In Part 2, you will be asked to recall and write about an event based on your responses to the daily diary portion of Kristina's study. Therefore, it is necessary that you successfully complete at least one day of the daily diary portion of that study to be eligible for Part 2 of this one.
As with the diary study, both parts of this study should be completed individually, in a quiet place free of distractions. In total, your participation will take roughly one hour. To thank you for your participation in Part 1, you will receive 100 participation points that can be entered into our prize draw (see below for details). For completing Part 2, you will receive an additional 100 prize draw points; alternatively, if you are an Acadia University student, you may elect to receive one course bonus point towards one of the following courses: Psyc 1023, Psyc 2023, Kine 1413, Kine 2033. Note that Psyc 2023 requires the completion of an additional assignment; check with your professor for more information.
In total, you will receive either: 200 participation points for entry into the prize draw for $1000 cash and other prizes (click here for more information about the available prizes) OR 100 participation points for entry into the draw, plus one class bonus point towards one of the four available courses.
